SAL apostille

Apostille Service in Singapore — SAL Apostille Handled End to End

An apostille is the certificate that lets a Singapore document be accepted in another country that is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention. In Singapore, apostilles are issued by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). Government-issued documents can go to SAL directly; private documents must be notarised first. We handle either route, from pickup to delivery.

Physical apostille or e-Apostille

SAL issues both paper apostilles and e-Apostilles. Since 2025, ACRA Business Profiles and Business Certificates (incorporation or registration) can be uploaded to SAL’s Legalisation Portal and apostilled electronically — no notary needed, S$10.70 per document, and the e-Apostille usually arrives by email within minutes. Every other document is apostilled on paper. Some recipients still insist on paper even for ACRA documents, so send us their instructions and we’ll use the format they accept. Recipients can verify a Singapore apostille through SAL’s online register.

Countries that accept a Singapore apostille

Most major destinations do, including India, China (since 7 November 2023), Vietnam (since 11 September 2026), Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, the UK, the USA, Canada and Australia. Countries outside the Convention — such as the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Malaysia — also need embassy attestation. Some recipients ask for more than the rule requires, so we always check the route for your document.

Apostille fees

For a Singapore public document such as a birth or marriage certificate, SAL charges S$10.70 per document. For a notarised document SAL charges S$87.20 (S$80 + 9% GST), and the notary’s official fee is added (for example S$115 for one signature with a certificate, or S$85 for a one-page certified copy). Our runner fee starts from S$25 per document, with each extra document in the same order at S$15; if a notary visit is needed, our full concierge starts from S$249 per document including the notary and SAL fees. Our fees are not subject to GST. All fees.

Apostille questions

Can a laminated certificate be apostilled?

Usually not. SAL needs to affix the apostille to the original, so a laminated certificate typically needs a fresh certified copy or extract from the issuing agency first.

Can I apostille a photocopy?

Not a plain photocopy. A copy has to be certified by a notary first; the apostille then goes on the notarial certificate.

Does an apostille expire?

The apostille itself doesn’t, but many recipients only accept documents issued or certified recently. Check their rule before you start.
