Power of attorney
Power of Attorney Notarisation in Singapore — For Property, Banks and Business Back Home
A power of attorney (POA) lets someone act for you where you can’t be — selling a flat in India, managing a bank account in China, or signing for your company abroad. To be accepted overseas, you sign it in front of a notary public, and it is then apostilled or embassy-legalised. We bring the notary to your home or office and take care of the rest.
General, special, property, banking, corporate and vehicle POAs
| Type | What it lets your attorney do |
|---|---|
| General POA | Act for you broadly, often across several matters |
| Special (specific) POA | Do one defined thing, such as sell one property or attend one hearing |
| Property POA | Buy, sell, rent, register or manage property overseas |
| Banking POA | Operate or close an account, handle deposits, sign bank forms |
| Corporate POA | Act for a company — sign contracts, deal with regulators, open accounts |
| Vehicle POA | Transfer, register or sell a vehicle |
Many receiving offices accept only a special POA for property. Check what your recipient wants before you sign.
Getting the wording right for the destination
The most common reason a POA is rejected abroad isn’t the notary — it’s the wording. Property registries, banks and courts back home often have their own templates. Ask your lawyer, bank or family there for their format, and send it to us with your quote request.
We check it matches — we don’t draft it
We’re not a law firm and don’t draft legal documents, but we check that what you sign matches what the recipient asked for before the notary arrives.
Signing before the notary at your home or office
The person giving the power must sign in person before the notary, with their NRIC or passport. Witnesses, if the document asks for them, must be present too. We arrange the visit at your place, including evenings and weekends. Mobile notary.
Apostille or embassy after signing
After signing, the notary issues a notarial certificate and SAL apostilles it. That is enough for India, China, Vietnam and other Convention countries. For the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait or Malaysia, it also goes to the embassy. Apostille · Embassy attestation
POAs for India and China: points to check
India
Under Indian stamp law a POA signed abroad must be stamped (adjudicated) in India, usually within three months of arriving there, before it can be used. Your lawyer in India handles that step; we make sure the Singapore side is right.

Since 7 November 2023, an apostille replaces Chinese embassy legalisation. Chinese offices may ask for a Chinese translation.
China pageNot an LPA: how this differs from Singapore’s Lasting Power of Attorney
A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a Singapore document registered with the Office of the Public Guardian, used if you lose mental capacity. It is a separate process and isn’t what overseas property offices or banks usually ask for. The POAs on this page are notarised documents for use abroad.
